One of our goals this year was to take the girls camping for the first time. I was so excited, I wanted to take them camping last year, however buying the baby pods, nets, and more to keep baby's safe, comfortable, and happy was a bit out of our price range (especially since we'd only use them 1's or 2's for Inara and aren't planning on having a reason to save them).
Earlier this week GG informed us she got a camping site at Jordenelle Reservoir for the fireworks over the lake celebration! HOW MUCH FUN IS THAT? We were stoked to get to go camping with GG, Kyle, Chantelle, and Jason, and the site was close enough to home that should the worst happen and the girls just not enjoy it we could easily pack up and come home.
At about 9:30pm Evie realized she was tired, and wanted to come home and go to her own bed. Josh quickly salvaged the situation by taking her into the tent and turning on her turtle star gazer (what she falls to sleep with everyday at home). They counted the stars, sang a few songs, and played with her duckie (which I have started referring to as roadkill).
She was able to calm down, watch some fire works and fall to sleep happy! Inara fell asleep on my lap watching the fire works, and sitting in front of the fire! Josh laid her in her sleeping bag after Evie was asleep and the two of us were able to snuggle around the fire for awhile before hitting the sack.
This morning around 7am Evie peaked her head up like a little groundhog from the bottom of her sleeping back which had totally wiggled down to the bottom of the tent, smiled and said "mommy we slept in the tent all night". Made me smile. Josh cooked eggs (and made a special effort to just make me egg whites), sausage, and Justlapia for breakfast. Then we went down and played in the inter-tubes on the water before packing up camp and heading home! It was such a blast we all had so much fun and other than adding and refining our "to pack" list for next time we can't wait to get \back out for a second camping trip!
